Local Initiatives for Global Goals

Protea Chemicals believes in integrating environmental, social and governance concerns into the everyday business and therefore looks to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for guidance on what to achieve across the organisation.

In 2015 the United Nations set out a blueprint for a better future, including 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). At Protea Chemicals we support this vision and have chosen to focus our efforts in areas where we can make the biggest difference.

Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

We supply water treatment products to both municipal and industrial entities, ensuring that clean, healthy water is available to communities in the regions we operate in.

Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

We are constantly innovating and improving our systems to become even more energy efficient, and are committed to using green technologies.

Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals

We collaborate with our suppliers, employees and customers to work towards achieving our agreed SDGs targets.

Keepings Ourselves in Check

Safety and quality are our cornerstones and we hold ourselves to the highest standards. Protea Chemicals is a SQAS-accredited (Safety and Quality Assessment for Sustainability) company. Managed by Cefic (European Chemical Industry Council), SQAS assessments evaluate quality, safety, security, environment and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The system is a key element of Responsible Care in logistics operations.

In addition to our own fleet of vehicles, we only use SQAS-accredited third-party hazardous chemicals contractors to make certain of the safe and reliable transport of goods to customers. Regular audits are conducted to ensure compliance and to mitigate risk.
