Protea Chemicals partnership with Primestars "My Future, My Career"
Johannesburg, 19 September 2022: Protea Chemicals, a member of the Omnia Group, is proud to once again be partnering with Primestars to support the “My Future, My Career” programme as it reaches out to young people around South Africa, helping them explore the options open to them in their lives after they finish their education.
The programme is rolling out in four provinces - Gauteng, KZN, Western Cape and Eastern Cape – and four schools near Protea Chemicals operations in those provinces have been identified to take part in the programme.
This past Saturday (17 September) saw Grade 9 learners from those schools attending events at Ster-Kinekor cinemas, which included talks by Protea employees about potential career paths; an opportunity for the learners to ask questions, and the screening of a feature on the mining and engineering sectors as possible career areas for those who are interested in them.
Protea employees attending the sessions to provide further information were drawn from our supply chain, manufacturing and distribution and logistics divisions, showcasing the wide range of career options open in the sector.
There was also an opportunity for the learners to have Personality Profile Assessments conducted by our partner, Thomas International, to help the learners to learn more about their personalities and the careers that they are best suited for.
Over 900 learners participated in Saturday’s programme:
- Gauteng - (Buhle Park Secondary School)
- KZN - (Lamontville High School)
- Western Cape - (Sinenjongo High School)
- Eastern Cape - (Cowan High School)
Protea Chemicals would like to thank all the partner organisations who continue to make this initiative possible, as we work together to ensure the brightest possible future for the young people of South Africa.
